As a result of these redundancies, many Ulster Bank employees will find themselves back on the job market. We understand that this can be a very tough time for those affected but it is important to remember that the jobs have been made redundant; not the employees. According to Lisa, here are some recommendations for those looking for a new role:
- Focus on the transferability of your skills into similar employment areas and remember all you have achieved and how skilled you are. Self belief is key in a new job search and it will take time and hard work but it will be worth it.
- Redundancies can provide an opportunity to re-train into a job category that you have an interest in. Take time to think about what you really want to do.
- Be sure to use your network of relationships. Get in touch with everyone who know in an influential position.
- Be open to contract and temporary roles as companies may begin to move away from offering permanent placements. The market is moving this way and you have to move with it.
- Be open to all opportunities, say yes to all invitations and be open about your situation, you are looking for a job and are proud of all you have achieved. Use this to your advantage.
