I attended the U.S. / Ireland Legal Symposium 2011 in Westport from the 11th-13th May.  The conference involved two days of fantastic speakers across a wide variety of Legal and Tax issues and the focus centred on the critical legal issues for U.S. and Irish Companies doing business in the US, Ireland and Europe.

The conference dealt with a wide range of legal topics to include:

*   Corporate law - Distressed debt acquisitions.
*   Employment law - on a national, european and international scale.
*   Commercial litigation - presented by the Honourable Mr. Justice Peter Kelly.
*   Alternative dispute resolution.
*   Corporate governance and regulation.
*   Intellectual property law.

Each topic was presented by a superb panel of expert speakers, both from Practice and In-House backgrounds in Ireland and the US. In addition there was a very information Tax Session held by well-known Tax Partners from Practice.

An exceptional gathering of Irish and American business people focused on developing Ireland’s potential for further inward investment. Westport provided an ideal location for what proved to be an information, inspiring and most enjoyable occasion. Here’s to next year’s event to be held in Philadelphia U.S.A!
